REVIEWS

The following are reviews and quotes from people in the comic industry.

Alan Grant

Writer of Doomlord, Judge Dredd, Judge Anderson and Batman to name a few.

'Of all the dozens of characters and stories John Wagner and I created
for EAGLE, Doomlord was always my favourite by an alien mile. It's
great to see the Doomlord tales in print again, especially in an
edition with such high production values. Repeat after me: Energiser to
Purchase!'

Leah Moore and John Reppion

Writers of Wild Girl and Albion for DC/Wildstorm and have recently signed a one year exclusive writing deal with Dynamite Entertainment.

'In this run Grant and Wagner succeed that rare thing of combining the sublime and the ridiculous to accomplish a narrative that is surreal and twisted enough to somehow become believable. Doomlord drips with the same eccentric Britishness which surrounds The Avengers or The Prisoner: familiar, unsettling yet uniquely pleasurable.'

Martin "Biff" Averre

Owner of Ace comic shop and writer of the Illuminations Comic Review section in Comics International.

'Alan Grant is a master storyteller and this overlooked and so far under
rated EAGLE story is really very good. I am pleased to say it sold as well
as 2000AD Extreme.'

The following is an excerpt from a  review of Doomlord from the excellent 2000adreview website, by Ed Berridge.  The full review can be read at www.2000adreview.co.uk/reviews/extra/2005/misc/doomlord/doomlord.shtml

'It is this character, perhaps one of Wagner and Grant’s least known but most entertainingly original, that makes this collection a ‘must buy’ for anyone interested in the work of either writer or the entertaining milieu of the 1980’s British comic scene. It certainly makes all the obvious hard work and loving dedication that has gone into the production of this book worthwhile. Personally, I feel like I’m four years old and reading it all for the first time again – quite frankly, having read this I’m even more excited to read volume two!'
